/PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate its Grand Launch, TripAlertz, a private, members-only travel site that uses the power of collective buying to deliver guaranteed best prices, is offering the chance to win a " Free Epic Journey into Space !" You can lift-off with Colonel Rick Searfoss (retired), who is one of only seven astronauts with more than 50 flights in rocket-powered vehicles. Entry into this "out of this world" promotion is free. The winner can assign the trip, subject to certain restrictions, as a gift to family, friends or a charity.
"Everyone kept telling us that we needed a launch strategy, so we took it literately," said Founder & Chief Inspiration Officer Brendan Murphy.
The Epic Journey into Space is offered via a partnership with XCOR Aerospace, builder of the Lynx Suborbital reusable space plane and provider of rocket technology to leading global companies. Lynx pilot, Colonel Searfoss, has flown the Space Shuttle three times, twice as pilot and once as Commander. His first space flight as pilot in 1993 set the record for the longest duration Space Shuttle mission to date. In 1996, he piloted Atlantis to the Russian space station Mir.
According to Andrew Nelson, XCOR's COO, "The flight profile of Lynx provides an exciting and enriching personal space experience which promises the ride of your life – a Pinnacle Life Event! The two-seat Lynx Mark I vehicle takes off horizontally from a runway with a powerful ascent reaching over twice the speed of sound (Mach 2+) on its way to the edge of space. The profound blackness of space, the spectacular view of Earth's curvature, and 1600 miles of viewing are unforgettable sights while experiencing weightlessness at apogee."
Colonel Searfoss adds "flight participants accompanying me will not only experience the exhilaration of the launch, but mankind's rarest view of all – Earth from space -- its beauty, its fragility and its lack of borders. The sheer magnificence of it will be potentially life altering."
In keeping with the TripAlertz commitment to offer "out of this world" value through its member's collective buying power, space trips can be purchased at a fraction of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic price. The TripAlertz Epic Journey into Space Package customarily sells for $95,000, yet as more people purchase, the power of collective buying can drive the price lower for everyone. Since words alone cannot describe this journey to space, pioneering space tourists will be presented with a personalized high definition DVD recorded by onboard cameras along with other stellar mementos, beyond specialized pre-flight training at a luxury resort in Arizona.
The TripAlertz Epic Journey into Space includes a five-night stay at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa during training and preparation, medical evaluation and screening, a cancellation insurance policy, and of course the Lynx flight itself, which promises to be the greatest ride off Earth. A deposit of $20,000 begins the process of assigning each space tourist to the training and qualification program.
The winner of the Free Epic Journey into Space will be drawn live on broadband-streamed television at the "TripAlertz Summer Solstice Party" on June 21, 2011. The promotion is Free and simple to enter. Anyone over the age of 21 can enter and improve their odds of going orbital:

For those preferring a more grounded experience, TripAlertz (dubbed by Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine as the "Groupon for Travel") has added tourism experiences to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex along with epic prices on Orlando hotels & resorts and other extras like theme park tickets. Anyone buying an Orlando package during the initial offer period (March 15-June 21) will receive two tickets to Kennedy Space Center for free and increase their odds of winning a Free Epic Journey to Space!
"We are delighted to be included as a premier offering in TripAlertz's Orlando tour packages," said John Stine, Director of Sales and Marketing with the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. "The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is the only place on Earth where you can tour launch areas, meet a veteran astronaut, see giant rockets, train in spaceflight simulators, and even view a launch."

The prize is a $45,000 icebreaker expedition for two to Antarctica accompanied by SeaWorld Animal Ambassador, Julie Scardina. More than 200 people have posted why they should adventure with Julie, while 10,500 people have shown their support for the entrants by voting for their favorite. The five most popular entrants at noon eastern daylight time, August 31, 2010 will be eligible to win.

BOBBERTHON! Are You Registered Yet?
Your chance at guaranteed prizes awaits you! Even better, these prizes are a reward for fishing in a new regional fishing tournament – Bobberthon.
Bobberthon is a tournament at which registered anglers have approximately two months to catch tagged bream in any of three public fishing area lakes. The angler then must register their tag. These first few steps guarantee a prize – but then even more prizes are available!
Quick Tournament Details
· Registration: Interested anglers can register at any participating vendor (list found online at the Bobberthon website) beginning today. Registration is available through Sept. 11, 2010.
· Fishing Locations: Once registered, anglers are instructed to fish at any of three local public fishing area lakes (Dodge County, Ocmulgee and Flat Creek) that have tagged bream.
· Tag Reporting: If an angler catches a tagged bream, they need to register the tag number by visiting any of the participating vendors (same vendors as registration) by Sept. 11, 2010.
· Tournament Dates: Dates to catch a tagged bream are July 17th-Sept. 11, 2010. Anglers that catch and report a tagged bream during that time are guaranteed a prize. They then also are eligible to participate in the Grand Bobberthon Tournament on Sept. 25, 2010 (visit the website for more info on the Grand Bobberthon Tournament).
· Prizes: Prizes could be anything from hats/t-shirts to larger prizes like cash or a boat. The Department of Economic Development and local community representatives are soliciting local and regional businesses for exciting prizes. Bobberthon committee representatives hope to be able to offer anything from hotel stays to restaurant gift cards to sporting equipment. As prizes are secured, they will be listed on the Bobberthon website.
The event is a collaborative effort between the Georgia Department of Natural Resources/Wildlife Resources Division, Georgia Department of Economic Development and four local communities (Bleckley, Houston, Dodge and Pulaski).

Pigeon Forge Aims to Take Back the Family Vacation
Do you have a friend you’d like to help with $100 in gas money? How about utilities for a year? Or 12 car payments? Or perhaps a year of mortgage payments?
The vacation destination of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., can help you accomplish exactly that.
The method is Pigeon Forge’s “Taking Back Vacation” campaign, which continues through July, when one family will win $15,000 for mortgage or rent payments.
Pigeon Forge, a major family vacation destination and a gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is conducting the campaign in reaction to the nation’s economic troubles of the past two years.
“We believe in the family vacation, and we feel family vacationers are our guests. Our whole community feels this way, and ‘Taking Back Vacation’ is our way to demonstrate that. It’s unusual for a whole destination to do this, but its our way to support a lot of families,” said Leon Downey, executive director of the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism.
All winners – and the people who nominate them – also will receive three-day vacations in Pigeon Forge.
The nomination process requires two clicks at Pigeon Forge’s Web site, www.MyPigeonForge.com, and composition of a 100-word essay. Visitors to the Web site will choose the winners from the posted essays.
“Too many people have had to curtail family time recently, and we want to draw attention to how important family vacations are. Those times together are vital, and places such as Pigeon Forge can be the glue that binds families,” Downey said.
The “Taking Back Vacation” campaign grows from April through July.
In May, 10 families will win $2,100 for utility payments.
In June, five families will win $6,600 for car payments.
In July, one family will win $15,000 for mortgage or rent payments.
Pigeon Forge made a similar outreach in 2006, a year of unexpected jumps in gasoline prices, by giving away a tanker truckload of gas.
“Our ‘Great Gas Giveaway’ was load of fun,” Downey recalled, “and we want the ‘Taking Back Vacation’ idea to be the same. Our goal in Pigeon Forge is making people happy and creating good memories.”
Pigeon Forge has a resident population of about 5,800, but it attracts more than 10 million visitors a year. It is home to Tennessee’s most visited tourist attraction, Dollywood, as well as more than a dozen theaters, scores of family attractions and more than 250 outlet, craft and specialty stores.
Its next-door neighbor, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is the most visited national park in the U.S.
“We’re in a great location and have tons of fun to offer. We hope parents will see us as a destination for family fun – before their kids outgrow childhood,” Downey said.

A Fun Twist On The Annual Vacation
(NAPSI)-An annual vacation can sometimes become monotonous, especially if your budget doesn't allow for an exotic venue. This year, consider keeping it fresh by making photography part of the adventure.
Viewing your trip through the lens of a camera can add a fun and inexpensive twist to the ordinary, while ensuring lasting memories. And according to National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson, you don't have to be a pro to take incredible pictures.
Here are some easy photo tips from Richardson to help you capture memories on your next trip:
• If you want to focus on something small or short, get down low, very close to it.
• To add color to a picture, frame your subject with leaves or flowers in the foreground and get really close to them.
• Boring pictures can become interesting pictures when you leave stuff out. If the photo is all about the details, leave out what might detract.
• Most really good night shots aren't taken at night. They are actually taken at dusk, just after sundown. Set up your tripod and wait out the perfectly balanced moment.
A great photo can happen anywhere at any time, and now those vacation shots can land one person the ultimate vacation: a trip for two to the Greek Isles with National Geographic Expeditions and the chance to be featured in National Geographic magazine in an ad for Energizer® Ultimate Lithium batteries.
Through June 30, aspiring photographers can visit national geographic.com/lithium to enter a photo in the 2010 Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest. There are six thematic categories: animals/wildlife, nature, travel, people/cultures, weather and action/energy.
Whether a digital photography novice, a proud picture-taking mom or a longtime photo enthusiast, all skill levels are encouraged to enter.
"You don't have to be an expert or have expensive equipment to capture a magnificent shot," said Richardson, judge for the Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest. "Great photography is often about being in the right place at the right time and making sure you're prepared to capture the moment when it happens."
To learn more tips from Richardson, see past finalist and winner photos and to make a submission, visit www.nationalgeographic.com/lithium.

Turn Your August, Labor Day Weekend Road Trips Into Prize-Winning Drive Smarter Challenge Video
/PRNewswire/ -- It's the "dog days of August," one of the heaviest time frames for road trips - what with travel to universities across the country combined with the "last hurrah" of summer vacations leading into the Labor Day holiday weekend.
As you capture those road trips for posterity on your camcorder, consider turning them into a fun, two-minute video that can garner extensive exposure on the web and win a $5000 grand prize, VIP NASCAR and Indy race packages, new tires, gift cards, car care guides, and more in the Drive Smarter Challenge video contest (http://drivesmarterchallenge.org/contest).
The online video contest is a new feature of the award-winning Drive $marter Challenge fuel-efficiency campaign sponsored by the Alliance to Save Energy and 16 other diverse nonprofit, governmental, trade association, and for-profit partners. The contest runs through September 20.
To enter, submit a two-minute (or less) video that illustrates one or more of the Drive Smarter Challenge gas- and money-saving driving and vehicle maintenance tips (http://drivesmarterchallenge.org/money-saving-tips/Default.aspx) such as the timely road trip tips below:
Planning your road trip:
-- Get a customized map with low gas prices along the route. Getting lost
while driving in unfamiliar areas could lead to an expensive waste of
gas. Print a customized vacation map that highlights low-cost gas
stations along your route using campaign website resources
(http://drivesmarterchallenge.org/money-saving-tips/fuel-efficient-res
ources.aspx). Or, navigate with a GPS system.
-- Choose the right vehicle. If your family has more than one vehicle,
drive the car that gets better gas mileage if possible.
-- Rise and shine! When possible, drive during off-peak hours to reduce
gas costs and stress by avoiding stop-and-go or bumper-to-bumper
traffic conditions.
-- Investigate other travel options. Consider trains, buses, or public
transportation to your destination when possible.
-- Explore new ways to get around at your destination. Find information
on biking, public transportation routes, car sharing, walking, and
renting hybrid or fuel-efficient vehicles on the Drive $marter
Challenge website resources page.
Before you leave: maintenance tips
-- Inflate your tires. Keeping your tires properly inflated improves gas
mileage by around 3%.
-- Select the right oil. Using the manufacturer's recommended grade of
motor oil improves gas mileage by 1 to 2%. Motor oil that says "Energy
Conserving" on the API performance symbol contains friction-reducing
additives. Change your oil as recommended to extend the life of your
vehicle.
-- Tune up. Fixing a car that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an
emissions test can improve its gas mileage by an average of 4%.
On the road: driving tips
-- Decrease your speed. Gas mileage usually decreases rapidly above 60
mph. Each five miles per hour over 60 mph is like paying an additional
20 cents or more per gallon for gas.
-- Drive sensibly. Speeding, rapid acceleration (jackrabbit starts), and
rapid braking can lower gas mileage by 33% at highway speeds.
-- Use cruise control and overdrive gear. Cruise control cuts fuel
consumption by maintaining a steady speed during highway driving.
Overdrive gear, when appropriate, reduces engine speed, saves gas, and
reduces engine wear.
-- It's a "drag." Avoid carrying items on your vehicle's roof. A loaded
roof rack or carrier increases weight and aerodynamic drag, which can
cut mileage by 5%. Place items inside the trunk when possible to
improve fuel economy.
-- Turn down the AC. Operating the air conditioner on "Max" can reduce
mpg by 5-25% compared to not using it.
-- Avoid idling, which gets 0 mpg. Cars with larger engines typically
waste even more gas while idling than cars with smaller engines.
-- Fill up before returning rental. Rental car companies charge higher
gas prices if you don't fill up the tank before returning the vehicle.

Do You Miss Fantasy Football? Too Soon for Fantasy Baseball? Try Fantasy Fishing ... and Win $1 Million!
/PRNewswire/ -- Just because Steelers season is over and the Pirates are still two months away doesn't mean you still can't enjoy all the fun and excitement of fantasy sports.
And a $1 million grand prize with no entry fee doesn't hurt, either.
That's because fantasy fishing season is upon us. Established by the creator of FLW Outdoors and the Forrest Wood Cup, fantasy fishing is rapidly growing in popularity. There is no entry fee to enter, but for that added edge, participants can purchase Player's Advantage for only $10 to assist them in trying to win a $1 million payday, plus six $100,000 payouts, one for each qualifying tournament.
Fantasy Fishing is sponsored by FLW Outdoors, which brings the world's richest bass fishing tournament, the Forrest Wood Cup, to Pittsburgh this summer from July 30-Aug. 2. The Forrest Wood Cup is the final event in the Walmart FLW Tour, and just like fantasy football and fantasy baseball, you can follow the leading money winners on the FLW Tour all season long and win America's richest fantasy event when the Fantasy Fishing winners for 2009 are announced here in Pittsburgh on July 31.
There's no entry fee, it is easy to play, and one lucky winner will receive a check for $1 million. Runners-up will win prizes such as a $54,000 Ranger boat, a brand new Chevy vehicle, a $25,000 gift card, or one of more than 1,800 additional prizes.
The FLW Fantasy Fishing season kicks off on Thursday, February 12, with the first Walmart FLW Tour event in Lake Guntersville, Ala., the Chevy Open. Fantasy league players increase their chances of winning the $1 million grand prize by entering all FLW Fantasy Fishing tournaments throughout the season and accumulating a greater amount of points leading up to the Forrest Wood Cup.
The Richest Sports Fantasy Game
In just one season, Fantasy Fishing soared to the top of the fantasy sports world, gaining fans from all over the world attracted to the game's $7.3 million in cash and prizes, the highest payout of any fantasy sports game in the world.
More than 4,400 prizes were awarded during FLW Fantasy Fishing's first season, including seven $100,000 prizes, which went to the players who came in first place at the conclusion of each fantasy fishing tournament during the FLW Tour season. The $1 million grand prize went to the player who obtained the most points over the seven tournaments.
Last year's million dollar winner was Michael Thompson, 34, of Minneapolis.
Participants from 123 countries enjoyed Fantasy Fishing and prizes were awarded to players from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Poland, South Africa, Estonia and a number of other countries.
Easy to Play
Fantasy Fishing is one of the easiest fantasy sports to play, especially with Player's Advantage. Players can simply register online at www.fantasyfishing.com and start enjoying the fun. A team of ten anglers will be selected randomly for all players, who can simply play all season with that team, or select their own team from the FLW roster of anglers.
And Fantasy Fishing is free to all players, unlike other fantasy sports that require an entry fee that is used to create the prize pool for winners. Participants can win prizes for individual tournaments as well as accumulate points over the six event season to make them eligible for the $1 million cash prize, which will be awarded to the player with the highest overall points for the season. That winner will be announced here in Pittsburgh at the Forrest Wood Cup on July 31. Fantasy Fishing also offers $3 million and $5 million exacta bonus games by correctly ranking the top five finishers in the Forrest Wood Cup or the top seven finishers in a tournament.

/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A recent contest hosted by JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ:JBLU) confirms that dogs really can look like their owners! The pet-friendly airline today congratulates Paul & Buddy, the grand prize winners of its 'Pet Look-Alike' contest held in celebration of JetPaws(TM), its exclusive new in-cabin program. Paul won roundtrip travel for two (and his little dog, too!) to any of the airline's 51 destinations.
This photo was taken while Paul and Buddy were camping at San Clemente State Beach in Southern California. JetBlue Crewmembers chose this photo for Paul and Buddy's uncanny physical resemblance as well as their mutually relaxed attitude while enjoying the sunset.
"Buddy and I are both laid back and vigilant for the safety of our family and friends, not to mention everyone has said we share similar facial features!" said Paul. "My wife Nicole and I fly JetBlue at least twice a year between our two home bases, San Diego and Boston. We like JetBlue's direct flights, the free entertainment and friendly crews and we are excited about earning bonus TrueBlue points when traveling with our dog. JetBlue posted the top submissions on its Web site during the contest and judging took place by the airline's crewmembers, who voted on the top five photos. Four runners-up were also chosen, including: Joe & Kramer; Meg & Little; Courtney & Herby; and Dan & Gizmo. They will all receive JetBlue's new JetPaws Pet Carrier and Pet Travel Kit. Photos of all contest winners can be found on www.jetblue.com/jetpaws.
JetBlue's JetPaws pet program was designed to provide pet owners with helpful Travel Petiquette(TM) guidelines, which outline the social graces of jetting with small dogs and cats. Customers traveling with Fido or Fluffy now receive two bonus award points for each flight through the TrueBlue customer loyalty program. A unique, custom-made pet carrier and separate travel kit co-designed by Cindy Adams, celebrated New York Post columnist, ASPCA board member and founder of Jazzy Park Avenue Dog products is also available.
Other program elements include a special welcome email for pet owners within one week of their booking and complimentary access to a downloadable e-booklet highlighting pet-friendly hotels, restaurants, parks and animal hospitals in some of JetBlue's top cities, including: Boston; Fort Lauderdale; Las Vegas; L.A./Long Beach; New York; Orlando; San Francisco; and Washington, D.C.
