AirTran Airways Customers Affected by Winter Weather in Atlanta and Northeast May Change Travel Plans Without Penalty

/PRNewswire/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., (NYSE: AAI), advises passengers that a winter weather system expected to affect the Atlanta area, as well as the northeast part of the country, could result in flight delays and/or cancellations from Christmas day through Monday, December 27, 2010.

Travel To From Atlanta

Passengers scheduled for travel to/from Atlanta on AirTran Airways between 2:00 p.m. eastern standard time (EST) on Saturday, December 25, 2010, through 12:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, December 26, 2010, may change their reservation without penalty as long as travel is completed within three days from the date of the original scheduled departure date or five days after the original scheduled departure date, based on space availability without fees or fare adjustments.

Travel To From the Northeast

Passengers scheduled for travel to/from the following cities in the northeast on Sunday, December 26, 2010 through Monday, December 27, 2010, may also change their reservation without penalty as long as travel is completed within three days from the date of the original scheduled departure date or five days after the original scheduled departure date, based on space availability without fees or fare adjustments: Allentown, Pa., Atlantic City, N.J., Baltimore/Washington, Md. (BWI), Boston, Mass., Buffalo, N.Y., Harrisburg, Pa., New York, N.Y. (LaGuardia), Philadelphia, Pa., Pittsburgh, Pa., Portland, Maine, Richmond, Va., Rochester, N.Y., Washington, D.C. (Dulles and Reagan), and White Plains, N.Y.

US Airways Customers Affected by Winter Storm May Change Itineraries without Penalty

(BUSINESS WIRE)--US Airways (NYSE:LCC) is relaxing certain fees for customers who may have to change travel plans as a result of winter weather scheduled to affect the mid-Atlantic region this weekend.

The airline will waive the standard change fee, advance reservation and ticketing requirements for customers traveling to or from the following destinations between Feb. 3 and Feb. 7 on any US Airways, US Airways Express or US Airways codeshare flight:

Washington, DC (Reagan) White Plains, N.Y. Wilmington, N.C.
Washington, DC (Dulles) Asheville, N.C. Philadelphia
Baltimore Charlotte, N.C. Charlottesville, Va.
Salisbury, Md. Fayetteville, N.C. Lynchburg, Va.
Newark, N.J. Greensboro, N.C. Newport News, Va.
Islip, N.Y. Greenville, N.C. Norfolk, Va.
New York (JFK) Jacksonville, N.C. Richmond, Va.
New York (LaGuardia) New Bern, N.C. Roanoke, Va.
Newburgh, N.Y. Raleigh/Durham, N.C.

Customers are strongly encouraged to check flight status at usairways.com, by calling 800-428-4322, or by texting their flight number to TEXTUS before arriving at the airport.

If US Airways service continues to operate to the affected destinations, customers can make certain changes without incurring the standard change fee, advance reservation or ticketing requirements:

* Customers can move their entire itinerary up to seven days before or after the scheduled origination date.
* Customers can apply the full value of their wholly unused tickets toward the purchase of a ticket to an alternate destination, although travel must originate within seven days of the scheduled origination date.

Customers traveling on certain tickets, such as some available from third-party ticket discounters, including but not limited to discount travel websites, may not have all elements of the policy available to them. Tickets issued by US Airways for travel on airlines other than US Airways, US Airways Shuttle or US Airways Express will follow the rules of the airline operating the flight(s).

Itinerary changes are subject to availability, and in certain cases, an additional collection fee. Customers will be able to stand by for alternate flights without incurring the standby fee if a satisfactory alternate itinerary cannot be confirmed.
