US Airways Expands Central and South America for Customers Through TACA Codeshare Agreement

(BUSINESS WIRE)--With recent approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation, US Airways (NYSE: LCC) customers will be able to enjoy expanded travel between the United States and destinations in Central and South America, thanks to a new codeshare agreement between TACA Airlines and US Airways beginning Jan. 12, 2010. Flying will be open for sale beginning Dec. 5 at usairways.com and through global distribution channels.

The codeshare agreement will complement existing US Airways flying to Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize and beginning Dec. 15—Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—from its Charlotte, N.C., hub.

With this new agreement, US Airways customers traveling from the United States to Latin America will be able to connect on flights operated by TACA Airlines. Through TACA’s hubs in San Salvador, El Salvador; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Lima, Peru, US Airways customers can travel on a single ticket to those countries, as well as Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Conversely, TACA customers gain greater access to US Airways' markets in the United States and beyond through connecting opportunities in Charlotte.

Savannah's 4th Annual Fiesta Latina

Saturday, the 20th of June, Savannah’s River Street will once again witness a transformation as Latin American Services Organization (LASO) and the City of Savannah’s Office of Cultural Affairs and others present the 4th Annual Fiesta Latina on the Río from 1:00 pm ‘til 9:00 pm. On that day, the hustle and bustle around Rousakis Plaza on River Street will take on a distinctive Latino flavor, with the sights and smells of Latin America and the Caribbean.

“¡FIESTA!” will fill the senses as it is interpreted by the 20 countries that make up Latin America. Live DJ’s and bands will bring the crowd to its feet with the rhythms of salsa, merengüe, cumbia, norteño, bachata, reggaetón and more while regional dance troupes put those rhythms into motion. Featured musical artists include last year’s popular “Serenata Band” from Atlanta, as well as many well-known local and regional artists. A stroll around the perimeter will further awaken the senses with artists sharing their memories of life south of the border – as well as their new lives among us - through stories, art and crafts. Venders will offer typical foods from their countries of origin. Community non-profits will offer information of service to Hispanics and their neighbors.

Delta Air Lines Announces New Flights between Atlanta and Brasilia, Brazil, Starting in December

/PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) today announced it will begin nonstop service between Atlanta and Brasilia, Brazil on Dec. 17, 2009.*

Delta will be the only U.S. airline to fly nonstop to Brasilia, Brazil's capital city, increasing to six the number of cities served by Delta in the country.

Delta has offered service between Atlanta and Sao Paulo for more than ten years, and has continued expanding throughout the years with nonstop flights between Atlanta and Rio de Janeiro, New York City-JFK and Sao Paulo, Atlanta and Manaus, and a direct one-stop flight connecting Atlanta to Recife and Fortaleza.

On May 21, Delta also will begin nonstop service between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo.

"As Delta continues to grow in Latin America, this new flight to Brasilia becomes a significant step in our expansion given the governmental and diplomatic activity in Brazil's capital," said Jim Cron, Delta's senior vice president of Global Sales and Distribution. The new Atlanta-Brasilia flight will be operated with a Boeing 757-200ER, with 158 seats in Economy Class and 16 seats in BusinessElite(R), Delta's award-winning premium service.
