Finding The Best Spa Getaways

(NAPSI)-When it comes to relaxing getaways, many travelers feel few things can top a spa vacation.

In fact, a study by The Travel Institute found that top reasons for a spa vacation include relieving stress or to feel relaxed; pampering and self-indulgence; and feeling better about oneself.

And if you're wondering whether spa getaways are female-only affairs, consider this: While a majority of spa goers are female, 29 percent of spa goers are now male, with that number expected to continue to rise.

So what are some top spa getaways? You might want to check out a unique, award-winning spa nestled in the Allegheny Mountains. Part of the world-class Greenbrier resort, the spa-already known for using natural ingredients and indigenous minerals-recently launched a new series of refreshing treatments and packages. The accolades recognize the restaurant's well-chosen wine offerings and complementary pairing of wine selections with their respective menus.

''Yes, We Can 2009 Inauguration Cruise'' Seven Day Voyage to the Inauguration of Barack Obama

(BUSINESS WIRE)--HotelBlox announced today that it has partnered with Imperial Majesty Cruise Line and Yes We Can Cruise, Inc., to offer an exclusive sailing to the inauguration of Barack Obama, who will be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States of America on January 20, 2009.

The seven day itinerary aboard Imperial Majesty’s MV Regal Empress cruise ship will depart from Port Everglades, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, January 16th to sail round trip to Baltimore, Maryland, located only 40 minutes from Washington D.C. Dubbed “Yes, We Can 2009 Inauguration Cruise,” it is the first ever, passenger cruise to the inauguration celebration of a U.S. President.

Highlights include:

* All the inclusive, features that you’d expect on a cruise vacation including meals, entertainment, and recreation
* A stop in Freeport Bahamas
* Onboard spa
* Casino gaming at sea
* Two days port in Baltimore for the Inauguration
* Ground transfers to Inauguration events
* “Yes We Can 2009 Cruise Ball” at the historic, Frances-Merrick Performing Arts Center, Baltimore

“Originally labeled ‘Charter 44 – The Cruise to History,’ our cruise product was conceived as a unique, yet pragmatic solution for individuals wanting to attend inaugural events against a backdrop of limited hotel and air availability,” said Lephate Cunningham, Jr., Managing Partner of HotelBlox. “Nearing the end of the ship procurement process, we discovered Yes We Can 2009 Cruise, Inc., a volunteer group based in Broward County, Florida that was organized solely to put together a cruise as a less expensive way to attend to the Inauguration. The group was faced with a major fundraising goal without a lot of time to get there. We invited them to join our project.”

“We were thrilled when HotelBlox contacted us,” said Karen Phillips, Yes We Can Cruise, Inc. “After one meeting, we knew that our grass roots efforts combined with the industry knowledge, marketing and distribution capabilities of HotelBlox could help make our dream a reality.”

To fully appreciate the efforts of Yes We Can Cruise, Inc., HotelBlox decided to adopt the group’s branding for the Inauguration cruise.

This once-in-a-lifetime voyage would not be possible without a committed and creative cruise line partner. HotelBlox could not have found a better partner than in Imperial Majesty. “This is such a historic event in our country’s history,” said Glenn Ryerson, Vice President of Marketing Imperial Majesty Cruise Line. “We’re very pleased to provide fun alternative transportation and accommodations to people who wouldn’t be able to get a hotel room in the area.”

The MV Regal Empress is a vintage cruise liner offering 500, oversized state rooms (double, triple or quad occupancy) and passenger capacity of 1100. According to Peter Knego of Maritime Matters, “the MV Regal Empress is an absolute must do for anyone with an interest in classic passenger ships. The Caribbean Restaurant, to this vintage ship lover, is the most beautiful room of any ship sailing.”

Named the Wild WaterDome, the new indoor waterpark spans more than 60,000 square feet with a see-thru, energy-efficient Foil Tec roof that lets guests tan indoors year-round. The facility features the Smokies SurfRider, Tennessee's only surfing simulator. The Wild WaterDome also includes the Storm Chaser, a four-person tube slide that begins with a 58-foot drop into a giant orange-and-white funnel where riders swoosh back and forth up the sides of the funnel. Other activities at the waterpark, which is reserved exclusively for resort guests, include a 10,000-square-foot wave pool, two tube slides, an indoor/outdoor hot spa, a multi-level play structure with a gigantic dumping bucket and 50-plus play-and-spray features. Hotwire Reveals Top Winter Wonderland Getaway Deals

/PRNewswire/ -- Hotwire.com(R), a leading discount travel site, today announced a blizzard of fantastic last minute holiday deals to popular cold weather destinations that are bound to make price-savvy travelers hearts sing with glee for the holidays. From rarely before seen hotel deals in cities like New York and Chicago to popular ski destinations in Colorado that won't freeze your wallet, Hotwire(R) has seen an uptick in room availability at cold weather destinations due to the economic slowdown.

During the winter months, the travel industry experiences a seasonal downturn in travel bookings. Hotwire helps major hotel suppliers fill empty rooms that would otherwise go unsold, which combined with the economic slowdown means deeply discounted room rates in some of the country's most popular destinations. For consumers looking for a quick, exciting and affordable winter get away, Hotwire offers an abundance of hotel options.

There's no better place to take in holiday lights and festivities than New York City. For those that think visiting New York over the holidays means breaking the bank, Hotwire is pleased to show them otherwise. Hotwire has seen a boom in room availability in New York City this holiday season. With unheard of discounts, like a 4-star hotel in Midtown for only $132 a night, consumers can now travel to New York on a dime and use their hard earned cash to experience all of the holiday treats the city has to offer.

Hotwire also has incredible hotel deals in Chicago. Enjoy world-class shopping on the Magnificent Mile and indulge in exquisite dining in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood while staying at a 4.5-star hotel for only $109 a night or a 4-star for $89 per night when booking through Hotwire.

For travelers who want more 'adventure' during their holidays, Hotwire has rarely seen discounts of up to 54 percent off retail prices in snowy locales. Now dare devil travelers can board or ski their hearts out with Hotwire's help.

Here's a selection of ski resort deals recently booked on Hotwire, researched on December 2, 2008*:

-- Colorado: A 4-star in Vail from $109; in Aspen, Hotwire has a 4-star
from $66 and a 4.5-star hotel from $199 (40 percent savings!)
-- Vermont: 3-star hotel in Burlington from $59
-- Utah: 4-star hotel in Park City from $105 and a 4-star hotel in Salt
Lake City from $73
-- Lake Tahoe: 3.5-star hotel in South Lake Tahoe from $53 and a 3.5-star
hotel in Reno from $49
-- Canada: 5-star hotel in Vancouver from $79 (54 percent savings!) and a
4-star hotel in Banff from $99

* Hotel rates shown are based on deals available for stays between December 2 - 31, 2008. Hotel rates shown do not include applicable tax recovery charges and fees. However, total cost, including all applicable tax recovery charges and fees, is shown before bookings are made on Hotwire.com. All bookings are non- changeable and nonrefundable. Rates subject to availability. Because rates change all the time, Hotwire customers are encouraged to check rates for themselves.

A Winter Oasis On Sugary White Sands

(NAPSI)-A shaky economy doesn't have to mean shelving your family vacation. Instead, you can follow the lead of other budget-conscious travelers who have found ways to hit the road without breaking the bank.

A good first step is to find destinations offering discounted rates. For instance, you can save about 40 percent on accommodations as you soak up the rays at a top winter oasis: Florida's Emerald Coast.

Located on the upper Gulf Coast, the destination welcomes winter visitors with inviting temperatures averaging 72 degrees as well as gentle breezes. Unlike other seaside destinations, "value season" runs December through March. And while the area's preferred activity tends to be "relaxing and doing as little as possible," it also offers plenty of enticements. Here's a closer look for those looking to escape the wrath of Jack Frost:

Beautiful Beaches

Stretching 24 miles, the Emerald Coast has been voted "Best Beach in the South" for 13 consecutive years by readers of Southern Living magazine. The beaches provide seating for performances by dancing dolphins and sandpipers and picture-perfect sunrises and sunsets.

Delightful Sites

The area boasts family attractions such as the Gulfarium--home to creatures ranging from 600-pound seals to two-ounce clown fish--along with the U.S. Air Force Armament Museum, one of only three American museums dedicated to the display of Air Force weaponry. For more whimsical fun, the Emerald Coast Science Center is a child's science fantasy.

Great Golf

Ranked as one of the top 10 "Best Golf Towns in America" by Golf Digest magazine, the Emerald Coast offers challenging courses designed by world-renowned architects such as Fazio, Finger, Dye, Couples and Cupp. The area's 1,080 holes of golf can delight putters without being pricey on the wallet.

Gone Fishing

Hailed as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village," Florida's Emerald Coast harbors the largest and most elaborately equipped charter boat fleet in the state. With more than 20 types of fish, first-time anglers and seasoned "old salts" can delight in deep-sea excursions for as little as $25 a half day.

Dining Delights

From rackety-shack oyster bars and salt-air cafés to upscale restaurants, these eateries are simple in atmosphere yet spiced with character. Served up with the flavor of Southern hospitality, they are known for their "to-die-for" dishes.

Happy 50th Birthday, Alaska!

/PRNewswire/ -- When Alaskans found out the United States Senate passed the Statehood Act in June of 1958, sirens blared and crowds celebrated around bonfires.

It was a spontaneous party that kicked off six months of anticipation ahead of President Dwight D. Eisenhower's signature on the statehood proclamation on Jan. 3, 1959. Fast-forward 50 years, and Alaska is preparing to mark the official anniversary with just as much fervor.

With anniversary-related events scheduled throughout the year, 2009 makes a great year to travel to Alaska. Many tourism businesses are offering special anniversary deals that will reduce costs on experiences statewide.

The Statehood Gala at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center will lead off the celebrations on Jan. 2, in Anchorage, with remarks from the state's political dignitaries and statewide musical and performance groups. The next day, a birthday bash will take over downtown Anchorage, led by a procession of Alaska's diverse people. The event will continue with a stage performance, musical and cultural acts and a fireworks show.

Also on Jan. 3, the Valdez Family Fest will include dog sledding, snow sculpting, a Wii tournament, an indoor carnival, fireworks and, of course, birthday cake. The events will take place in and around the Valdez Convention and Civic Center.

"If travelers are looking for a different kind of New Year's party to attend, this is it," said Ron Peck, president and COO of the Alaska Travel Industry Association. "We're celebrating our history, our successes and our growth as a state. It's going to be a tremendous day for Alaska, and an even bigger year."

Many Alaskans can think back over the past 50 years and marvel at how the state has changed. But even as the state grows up, it will only take a scan of the crowd on Jan. 3, to realize Alaska's pioneering spirit is still alive.

New York City May Have a Lock on East Coast Christmas Celebrations, But Southern California Boasts the Oldest Holiday Boat Parade in the U.S.

/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- New York City can proudly boast of such holiday traditions as the Christmas tree and ice rink at Rockefeller Center and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. However, in Southern California the season may not be snowy and white but, to paraphrase Irving Berlin, it is always merry and bright thanks in part to the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, the oldest holiday boat parade in the U.S., celebrating its centennial with the theme of "100 Years of Christmas Cheer" this holiday season.

In "The OC" where trends and fads come and go as quickly as jets at LAX, the fashionable resort destination of Newport Beach is ready to mark the 2008 holiday season with the centennial of its impressive procession, adding a uniquely west coast twist to the array of annual holiday traditions in the U.S. Called "One of the top holiday happenings in the nation" by The New York Times, the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade is the most elaborate on-the-water holiday spectacle in the country, delighting generations since 1908.

There are well over 20 holiday boat parades from coast to coast across the nation but the Newport Beach water-borne pageant trumps them all for remaining popular over the past ten decades. The parade has been described as the aquatic equivalent to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

The 100th edition of this iconic Southern California holiday event kicks off on Wednesday, December 17 (with an inaugural fireworks display) and continues through Sunday, December 21 at 6:30pm each evening in Newport Harbor. The procession winds its way 14 miles around the harbor (one of the largest small yacht harbors in the world) to give viewers in restaurants, yacht clubs, on public beaches, and in private homes an incredible sight. The parade is expected to again attract an audience of over one million spectators during the five consecutive evenings. For more information on where to find the best views of the parade, go to www.visitnewportbeach.com or www.christmasboatparade.com.

The colorful, twinkling parade features an armada of nearly 100 kayaks, canoes, impressive yachts and other watercrafts. Many of the yachts are decorated with whimsical animated scenes accompanied by music and costumed carolers, plus every conceivable lighting fixture or illuminated decoration.

Travel: A Gift that Spans Generations

(ARA) - Have you ever returned from a trip anxious to share your stories and pictures with family members, only to be disappointed as you’re going through them? It’s a common occurrence; photos don’t always capture the true essence of your experience.

So what’s the best way to truly share your travel excursions with family? Take them with you! In fact, intergenerational travel (grandparents taking their children and grandchildren on trips) has increased in recent years. More than 30 percent of grandmas have taken at least one trip with a grandchild, according to the Travel Industry Association of America. And those numbers are expected to climb, with a large increase coming from international travel.

Joan Wyer and Sherry Lund, both from Minnesota, are two such grandparents. They’ve taken family members to domestic and international destinations alike and say it’s a wonderful, fun and enlightening way to build relationships.

“I could travel alone or with friends,” says Wyer. “But I’d much rather share these memories with my family.” Wyer has taken her family of 18 (four children, their spouses and nine grandchildren) on three excursions in the last several years including Alaska, the Sea of Cortez (Mexico) and the Galapagos Islands.

“There is no better way to build deep relationships than by traveling together,” says Wyer. “There are definitely bonding moments as you experience unique places and people away from the day-to-day routine of home.”

Lund couldn’t agree more. “Traveling with my grandchildren has given us a gift – a special bond of memories that only we share, no one else.” Lund has started a family tradition with her grandchildren. When they reach 10 years of age, she takes them on a unique trip that helps broaden their world view. To date, she’s shared the Galapagos Islands with her granddaughter Laurie and Peru with granddaughter Libby.

Both Wyer and Lund sought guidance from Travel Beyond, a 30-year-old international travel consultancy in Wayzata, Minn., to design their trips. The consultancy has invested more than 25,000 hours personally visiting and pre-screening destinations around the world. This first-hand knowledge was a big comfort to Wyer and Lund.

“Many of today’s baby boomers want an experience that doesn’t involve a tour bus and hoards of people,” says Craig Beal, chief executive officer of Travel Beyond. “They want to get out and explore new destinations in a way that’s unique to them. That’s why we agonize over the details and customize every aspect of their travel.”

According to Beal, several international destinations have emerged as excellent options for intergenerational travel.

Three to 10 Day Tours – Experience the Uniqueness of Canada
* Observe the polar bears in Churchill
* Ride through the Canadian Rockies on the Rocky Mountaineer
* Visit the 400-year-old city of Old Quebec

Five to 15 Day Tours – Enjoy the Diversity of South America
* Explore the ancient Incan ruins of Machu Picchu, Peru
* Visit the Galapagos Islands, known for its impact on Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection
* Star gaze through a private observatory in the Atacama Desert of Chile
* Experience ‘March of the Penguins’ in real life in Antarctica

10 to 20 Day Tours – Discover the Wild Side of Africa
* Interact with one of Africa's oldest tribes (Himba) and see the largest collection of ship wrecks in the world in Namibia
* Seek out the “Big Five” (lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffalo, rhinos) on a safari through Botswana
* View the impressive Victoria Falls in Zambia, one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World

“Many of the trips I’ve taken through Travel Beyond are experiences of a lifetime,” continues Lund. “I’m fortunate to give those experiences to my grandchildren as a special gift. Walking among the iguanas, seeing birds and animals that are unique to that location and exposing them to parts of the world they’ve never heard of before. Those are cherished gifts any grandparent would love to give.”

To learn more about intergenerational travel or general travel to the destinations mentioned above or many other locations, contact Travel Beyond at (800) 876-3131 or visit www.travelbeyond.com.

Elvis Presley's 1962 Private Lockheed Jetstar to be Auctioned During Kruse International's 35th Annual Las Vegas Collector Car Auction

T2F Note: Just in case you get a hankering------

/PRNewswire/ -- The staff of the largest collector and vintage car auction company, Kruse International, is busy finalizing all details so that the 35th Annual Las Vegas Collector Car Auction taking place on December 19th and 20th, 2008 at the beautifully remodeled South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV is another great success. Kruse is proud to announce an impressive line up of vehicles that includes "Mr. Las Vegas" Wayne Newton's 1982 Mercedes-Benz and 2001 Jaguar XK8 Convertible, Pamela Anderson's customized "LoveStream" Trailer Lounge, which she will sell in person at the auction, and the most coveted item of the event, one of the world's greatest attraction, Elvis Presley's 1962 Lockheed Jet.

Elvis Presley was known to be an airplane enthusiast. In fact, he owned three jets during his lifetime, which included a Convair 880 Jet (the famous Lisa Marie) and two Lockheed Jet. After Elvis' death all jets were sold, and today only Hound Dog II and the Lisa Marie have returned to Graceland.

The 1962 Lockheed Jet that will be up for auction is one of only 204 aircrafts manufactured between 1957 and 1978 in a private project between Jetstar and Lockheed. This aircraft has never been restored and features original external painting and detailing, as well as original interior. The jet is the only airplane that belonged to Elvis still in private hands. It is expected that the aircraft will bring an estimated range between $700,000 to $2M.

Stored in Roswell, New Mexico, prospective buyers are invited to inspect the Lockheed Jetstar JT 12-5 on December 13th and 14th, 2008. To schedule an appointment call Kruse International at 800.968.4444. According to the owner, the aircraft can be easily moved by taking the wings off until it reaches its final destination. The engines are out of the jet, but they can be purchased for an amount ranging between $10,000 and $35,000 depending on its condition.

This aircraft is considered by many of Elvis' fans as one of the greatest attractions in the world and it would be a substantial addition to any museum, amusement park, entertainment center, or private collection.

Kruse International has already registered many bidders for this coming event. Be sure to register for the nominal fee of $75 to be part of this thrilling major annual event and have the chance to bid and own A-list vintage automobiles and aircrafts. To view complete inventory, visit www.kruse.com or call 800.968.4444 to inquire more information about the 35th Annual Las Vegas Collector Car Auction.

Las Vegas Tops List as Most Popular U.S. Destination as Orbitz Looks Back at Travel Trends in 2008

T2F Note: Congrats to Atlanta for making the top 10. Of course, we've always been attracted to the city.

/PRNewswire/ -- As 2008 draws to a close, Orbitz (http://www.orbitz.com/), a leading online travel site, takes a retrospective look back with its latest Insider Index to offer insight into when and where Americans spent their travel dollars this year.

"By looking back at travel data in 2008, we can identify trends that will help consumers make smart decision in travel planning for the year ahead," said Jeanenne Tornatore, public relations director for Orbitz Worldwide. "For example, those who want to travel when they can find bargains should look to the slower travel periods when destinations have fewer crowds."

Busiest Travel Weeks

While last year (2007), the July 4th week topped the Orbitz list of busiest travel weeks, Thanksgiving has historically been the busiest travel period of the year, and 2008 was no exception. For travelers looking to avoid the long lines at the airport, the slowest travel week of the year is still upon us, with the week of December 29 coming in as the least busy travel week of 2008.

The busiest travel weeks of 2008(1) were:

Most Popular Airfare Routes for 2008

With so much volatility in the airline industry in 2008, from rising gas prices to decreasing capacity, the fluctuating price of airfares was a focus of much discussion among consumers. This retrospective Orbitz Index reveals the average prices travelers actually paid for airfares on Orbitz.com for some of the most popular flight routes in 2008, ranging from $156 to $404.

In June, Orbitz announced the launch of a new service, Orbitz Price Assurance, created to help ease travelers' concerns about the fluctuating prices of airfares. With Orbitz Price Assurance, if the price drops for a plane ticket booked on Orbitz.com and another customer subsequently books the same airline ticket on Orbitz.com for less, Orbitz will automatically send travelers a cash refund for the difference.

Last year, entries ranged from humorous (folks trapped in their cars by their Christmas trees tied to their roof) to poignant (family members getting together for what they knew would be their last holiday) to one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments (the late Luciano Pavarotti performing impromptu outside New York's LaGuardia Airport.) Last year’s winner heralded from Cheltenham, Pa., and provided a heartwarming account of Christmas spirit where one pilot’s announcement made a memorable Christmas Eve for all of the children (and grownups too) on his plane.

“Not to take anything away from all of the very serious economic news all around us, this is simply an opportunity for travelers to share their positive stories about holiday travel with the rest of the world,” said Elise Eberwein, senior vice president, people and communications for US Airways. “Whether reflecting on new adventures in exotic locations or returning home and reconnecting with friends from other lifetimes, airline travel is the one constant that makes all of those things events possible.”

To enter the contest, participants can submit their digital story consisting of a photo (3 MB limit) and brief narrative by Jan. 2, 2009 to holidaycontest@usairways.com. Photos and story submissions will be judged by a panel of US Airways employees and will be based on the following criteria: 36 percent originality, 78 percent creativity and 100 percent overall holiday spirit. The most compelling holiday travel story will be announced on Jan. 5, 2009 and awarded a $500 US Airways Gift Card, valid for travel to nearly 200 US Airways destinations. Second and third place winners will also be announced on Jan. 5, 2009 and receive a $250 and $100 US Airways Gift Card respectively. More information about the contest, including rules and restrictions, is available at www.usairways.com (click on ‘Share your story & win’).

CheapTickets.com 2009 Value Travel Forecast Reveals Top Budget Friendly Destinations for The New Year

/PRNewswire/ -- CheapTickets.com (http://www.cheaptickets.com/), a leading online travel agency that knows "the less you pay, the better it feels(R)," today announced its 2009 Value Travel Forecast, an in-depth analysis of 2008 hotel pricing trends that projects the destinations expected to offer the most value to travelers in the New Year.

According to a recent CheapTickets "Cheaponomy" (http://www.cheaponomy.cheaptickets.com/) survey, travel ranks No. 2 among the leisure activities that consumers are still trying to afford in today's economy.(1) The Value Travel Forecast offers a month-by-month roadmap of where and when consumers can travel in 2009 to get the most bang for their buck.

"For many in the coming year, choosing a destination that fits a tighter budget will be a key factor in deciding where and when to vacation," said Marita Hudson Thomas, a Cheaponomist(SM) from CheapTickets.com. "We created the forecast to help travelers identify the trends that can help them plan in advance and still save."

From exotic international cities to domestic hidden gems, the Value Travel Forecast identifies the best budget-friendly opportunities for 2009 that will keep consumers traveling throughout the year. Noteworthy highlights include:

-- Exotic international destinations reign as the best budget travel destinations in 2009: Hong Kong (59 percent in January), Brazil (58 percent in April) and Greece (58 percent in November).

-- Stateside, hidden gems in the off-season lead: Napa Valley (56 percent in December), Portland, ME (53 percent in March) and Tucson, AZ (52 percent in August).

-- Think a European vacation is out of the question? Think again. Consider an apres holiday trip to Italy or France, which offers 35-42 percent savings in February compared to peak rates.

-- Can't go the year without fun in the sun? Simply bump up your tropical escape to fall instead of winter and save up to 58 percent in Greece, Mexico and Hawaii, among others.

The CheapTickets Value Travel Forecast projects three destinations for each month where travelers will save in 2009, including CheapTickets' top picks for each month*:

CheapTicket's Top Picks

To further help travelers identify the deals and the destinations right for them in 2009, the CheapTickets' team presents their month-by-month favorites, offering insight on top attractions and activities for the budget-savvy traveler.

JANUARY: New York, NY -- Manhattan is every bargain seeker's dream in January. In addition to a 37 percent savings compared to peak hotel rates, retailers are buzzing with post-holiday sales, and big-city attractions are easily accessible now that the holiday crowds have come and gone. Visitors can also take advantage of New York City's Restaurant Week in January, giving them access to some of the city's best restaurants for a fraction of the price.

FEBRUARY: Italy -- In February, Italy is just starting to come out of its winter cloak, and budget travelers will appreciate the lower airfare and savings of up to 42 percent on hotels when compared to the high season. February visitors can also experience one of Italy's most famous festivals, Carnevale, or celebrate a romantic Valentine's Day getaway in the country where the holiday originated.

MARCH: Portland, ME -- This historic, seacoast town is filled with galleries, one-of-a-kind boutiques and incredible restaurants serving everything from New England clam chowder and lobster rolls to nouvelle cuisine. Enjoy March's first sweet taste of spring by sampling some of Maine's famous maple syrup at a time when savings of 53 percent compared to peak rates are available.

APRIL: Brazil -- Looking to take a break this spring but want to avoid the spring break madness? In April, the summer surge of tourists in Brazil is complete, which means fewer crowds, but the same great tropical weather.

MAY: Lake Tahoe -- For those who love the outdoors, Lake Tahoe is the ideal destination in May. The lake is popular for water sports and beach activities, and with 38 percent savings compared to peak winter rates, going during the off-season means affording activities like a guided cruise or dining at the many lake front restaurants.

JUNE: Egypt -- With 38 percent savings compared to peak rates, June visitors can relax on the wondrous Red Sea or Sinai coasts, take in the high culture of Cairo or even leisurely float down the Egyptian Nile on a river boat.

JULY: West Palm Beach, FL -- Florida in the summer can sometimes feel more like a rain forest than a sanctuary -- but it doesn't have to. Cozy pubs, energetic dance clubs and concert halls abound for the traveler looking to have some summer fun.

AUGUST: Tucson, AZ -- With temperatures averaging 103 degrees in August, Tucson may not seem like a late summer's dream, however with 52 percent savings compared to peak rates travelers can take refuge and save big in the serenity of some of Arizona's finest spas.

SEPTEMBER: Orlando, FL -- Theme Parks report their lowest attendance during the month of September, and with 32 percent savings on hotels compared to peak rates, September is the perfect time for a cheap getaway to this family hot-spot.

OCTOBER: Mexico -- Getting a great deal to Mexico is as simple as knowing when to go. Jet-set to Mexico in October instead of a winter month and save 25 percent compared to high-season rates.

NOVEMBER: Ireland -- Typically known as one of the more expensive European destinations, visiting in November will boast a savings of 43 percent compared to peak hotel rates. This beautiful country also offers travelers a great selection of free tourist attractions, such as the Hill of Tara and Glendalough.

DECEMBER: Napa Valley -- December in Napa is every wine connoisseur's dream. You'll miss the beauty of the ripening vines, but have full access to all the wineries and even the wine train with very little crowds, all the while enjoying a 56 percent savings.

Delta to Manage 2009 Capacity Due to Global Economic Slowdown and Softening Traffic

T2F Note: The following is an excerpt sent to Delta employees this morning. The entire communication can be seen on the Delta website.

Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) today issued the following memo to its more than 75,000 employees worldwide from CEO Richard Anderson and President Edward H. Bastian.

Subject:
Delta to Manage 2009 Capacity Due to Global Economic Slowdown and Softening Traffic

As always, we want to make certain that Delta people are the first to know about changes to our business. That is why we are sharing with you now that later this morning at an investment conference in New York, we will announce plans to decrease systemwide capacity, for both Delta and Northwest, during 2009. This action comes as a result of the global economic recession and weaker demand for air travel.

Systemwide 2009 capacity will be down 6-8% year over year. Domestic capacity will be down 8-10% and international capacity will be down approximately 3-5%. These numbers include the full impact of previously announced 2008 capacity reductions.

Delta has established itself as an industry leader. Once again, Delta must take the necessary steps to adjust our business accordingly and make certain seat capacity meets customer demand. These economic hurdles are difficult, and we remain committed to building our company on a durable financial foundation with industry-leading liquidity. Remember that speed wins so we will be decisive and not delay. As Rules of the Road states, “Speed in execution is the difference between success and failure.”

Even with the economic recession, we are achieving significant benefits from our merger and will continue to do so. The merger has allowed us to develop growth opportunities as we connect the networks to create new revenue streams neither airline could have achieved independently. We will continue to follow the Flight Plan to invest in and further diversify our international network in the Pacific, Africa, India and the Middle East to help mitigate the risk from specific regional economies. We will remain focused on, and continue to adapt to, the rapidly changing global economy to better align supply with demand.
